Kal-Fire Heat Pure Wood Fire Inset Fireplaces
The whole aspect of heating Passive Houses can be confusing given the more familiar use of open fire places in the homes we were brought up in. In Ireland we still have that need and want to have an open fire and some of us dislike the idea of a stove in our new house and fore sake the concept of having a Passive House on this basis alone. This is where the Heat Pure from Kal-Fire can be used which burns wood or gas and will keep that focal point we all like to have in our Irish homes.
The Heat Pure range of wood and gas fire inserts are suitable for air tight low energy and passive homes. A lift door fire with a frame of only 12mm and at the bottom pure glass. This means the Heat Pure offers an unimpeded view of the flames when the door is closed, open or half open. No obtrusive elements but a streamlined and sophisticated design for a maximum view of the fire. The Heat Pure is the most striking wood-burning fireplace currently available.

Closing mechanism
Practical closing mechanism to clean the window. The unique closing mechanism of the Heat Pure makes it possible to tilt the door. This makes it much easier to clean the window. When the door is in the tilted position, any soiling automatically falls into the combustion chamber. The area in front of the Heat Pure stays clean.
Perfect sealing between the door and the appliance. When closed, a cord and various rubber seals in the door are pressed flush against the Heat Pure. This creates a hermetic seal.
Clean combustion
The Heat Pure is fitted with a special baffle plate and as the combustion air is pre-heated, the Heat Pure burns extremely cleanly. The Heat Pure complies with stringent emission standards that are increasingly required by legislation.

Clean window
The window of your Heat Pure will stay clean. Provided you lit according to the instructions. This is safeguarded by the Clean Window System, which uses pre-heated combustion air and an air spoiler just above the window.
Automatic air supply
The thermostat registers whether the Heat Pure is cold. In this case primary combustion air is automatically supplied via the lower spoiler. As the temperature rises in the combustion chamber, the air supply is gradually reduced. This advanced technique means the Heat Pure quickly burns at the right temperature and keeps the window free of deposits.
Dual use
The Heat Pure can be used as an open fireplace or a closed fireplace. The closed option is suited for low energy and passive houses with the open fierplace being mroe suited to less air tight homes. In fact, this means you enjoy a product with two totally different functions; an open fireplace and a stove. However, each application requires a very different air supply. For this reason, the Heat Pure has a patented, built-in air valve at the rear side. The Heat Pure uses a thermostat to register the temperature in the combustion chamber and adapts the primary air supply accordingly. This makes the Heat Pure an ideal solution for homes with mechanical air exhaust systems.
Manual flame adjustment
The flames can also be manually. On the right hand side of the lower frame is a slot, which allows you to manually adjust the amount of combustion air.
If you have reached the bottom and feel this maybe a fireplace of interest to you for your home but are still not sure you are more than welcome to call into my home to see it in use (Dec to Jan it was in use this past winter).Email me at stephen@youngdesignbuild.ie
